Breastfeeding Positions – Breastfeeding Series
Finding the right breastfeeding position can help both mother and baby feel comfortable during feeding. A relaxed position supports a better latch and makes nursing more enjoyable.
Popular breastfeeding positions include the cradle hold, cross-cradle hold, football hold, and side-lying position. Each offers different levels of support, depending on the baby’s age and the mother’s comfort.
Keep your baby’s head and body aligned, with their nose level with the nipple and their body close to yours. If feeding causes persistent pain or your baby struggles to latch, a lactation consultant can help you adjust your position and improve feeding comfort.
