How to Breastfeed Your Baby
Breastfeeding your baby begins with finding a comfortable position and holding your little one close, with their head and body aligned and facing your breast.
Gently touch your nipple to your baby’s upper lip and wait for a wide-open mouth. Bring your baby toward your breast, aiming for a deep latch that includes the nipple and part of the surrounding areola.
Look for rhythmic sucking, swallowing, and comfortable feeding. Feed whenever your baby shows hunger cues, such as rooting or bringing hands to their mouth. If breastfeeding hurts persistently or your baby struggles to latch, a lactation consultant or healthcare professional can help you and your baby feed comfortably.
